Today is the day! We’re very proud to release the long-awaited next version of Beeper Android. Why did this take so long? Short story – the switch to making Beeper a default SMS app was much more complex than we planned. Once we merged that piece of code into the app we couldn’t ship a version with it disabled. So we had to fix all the bugs before we shipped the combined new version. That….took longer than expected.

• Start a new chat on Android (finally!)

• SMS on Android
  • Beeper can now be set as your default SMS app! Start using it by going to Beeper Android → Settings → SMS Bridge → Start
  • Everyone must re-enable SMS bridge to keep using SMS on Beeper.
  • This change was a ton of work but serves to make SMS on Beeper Android infinitely more reliable than before!
  • There may still be a few bugs – please send us a message if anything is not working!

Bug fixes

• Decrease how often ‘encrypted message’ appears. If you are still seeing issues, please sign out and sign in again. Use your security key to guarantee that sign in works.

• Fix configuration issue. Message fail errors should now be displayed
