Sorry for the wait! We’ve been hard at work retooling large portions of our message sync architecture. Put simply, a number of new restrictions introduced by the operating system caused us to rethink our approach at syncing data in the background. This had a bit of a domino effect for us internally, leading to a series of large changes that took a bit longer than we’d have liked. We appreciate your patience!

The main focus of this release has been on app stability and message deliverability. Many users on Android 15 have encountered delays in both notifications and outgoing messages. We’ve retooled a large portion of our underly logic to better support new constraints imposed by Android 15, which will also increase reliability (and decrease battery usage!) for everyone 💫

• Display Support for custom reactions
  • This is the first step in an overhaul to our Emoji & reaction logic, which will include a series of improvements in the coming weeks. Support for sending custom reactions, as well as displaying them within message text, is still a work in progress
• Enhanced control over media downloads
  • Previously, regardless of setting, Beeper would always attempt to download media whenever it was visible within a chat. This can lead to a host of issues, depending on a number of factors (data plans, network speed, etc)
  • ⚙️ → Preferences → Media → Always auto-download in-app
    • When this setting is disabled, media won’t be downloaded until you tap it
• Automatically dismiss pending notifications when a chat is Archived, Marked as Read, or moved to Low Priority
